I just got back from Göteborg (in south west Sweden) where I have been teaching Drupal to the developers and designers of Xelera Communication.

Xelera build and designes webb-sites, e-commerce solution and does Internet marketing. They have become interested in Drupal and wanted me to kick-start them. I had sessions on Theme building, module development, multisite installs and site building with CCK+Views.

It was the first proper Drupal seminar I have teached. It was really fun and I believe it went quite well so I hope there will be more.

The participants all knew PHP and/or HTML+CSS and they had already done one small project with Drupal. There was a lot of good questions and a lot of “that was clever!” and “is it really that simple?”, Drupal impresses everyone who gives it some time :-).

I don’t have any hard numbers but it definitely feels like Drupal is starting to take off in Sweden. One bottleneck is the number of good Drupal developers and designers. Drupal seminars, like the one I had for Xelera, is one way to remedy this.
