Even though I have visited Japan on several occasions I have not until now seen the cherry blossom. In Japanese it’s called Sakura and the linked Wikipedia article tell about there cultural significance to the Japanese. They have a special word for viewing Sakura, hanami.

They are very beautiful! No picture can do them justice.

Update 2007-04-27: The two firsts pictures are not Sakura, they are peach trees. I have added a third picture that is. We was driving around and looked at several places and I mixed up the pictures, or rather I just picked the best ones :-).
