The problem with PNG gamma correction, and a AppleScript to fix it
The PNG format (Portable Network Graphics) was created to be a replacement for the GIF format. It is patent free open standard with a number of advantages over GIF.
One of the few problems with PNG images is that it’s difficult, not to say impossible, to match colors in CSS and GIF images with does in a PNG image. This is a major headache for web designers and according to information I have found on the web the reason is the PNG gamma correction function.

Ett hurrarop för det svenska valsystemet
Något som imponerar på mig är hur otroligt effektivt det svenska valsystemet är. Trots att det var så jämt mellan blocken i årets val fick vi ett tämligen säkert resultat redan tre timmar efter det att vallokalerna stängt. Detta trots att vi röstar på i princip samma sätt som val gått till sedan urminnes tider. I det antika grekland röstade man genom att lägga en svart eller en vit sten i valurnan, vi kan välja mellan ett antal olika papperslappar.
Rösterna räknas två gånger, först direkt i vallokalerna och sedan av respektive länsstyrelsen. All rösträkning är offentlig och vem som helst kan komma och se på hur det går till. Systemet gör det mycket svårt att fuska och det är lätt att förstå och kontrollera för vem som helst. Tekniken utnyttjas först när det kommer till att skicka in resultaten och presentera dem.
Valet 2006, två bra saker och en dålig
Sveriges nästa statsminister heter Fredrik Reinfeldt och är Moderat, det var det dåliga. Valdeltagande på lite över 80 procent är mycket bra. Preliminärt ser det ut som om Stockholmarna röstat ja till trängselskatter vilket är lysande.
Socialdemokraterna gjorde det sämsta valet sedan rösträtten infördes i Sverige så att Göran Persson avgår är, om inte självklart så, knappast förvånande. De följande fyra åren kan ge partiet ett bra tillfälle att fundera över lite saker. Nästa val är år 2010. När man skriver ut det känns det som Sci Fi.

My aging Sony Ericsson T68i was due for a replacement but I was having trouble finding a good replacement.
The T68i has good hardware and was the first phone I tested where Bluetooth worked well. The user interface on the other hand is almost as bad and irritating as the Windows OS is.
After spending some time in Japan I started to like the flip open phones. Big screens that are automatically protected in the pocket and decent size keys. Not to talk about the great featured the Japanese phones have.
The Nokia 6131 was one of the few phones that I found interesting. It uses the relative new Symbian Series 40 3rd Edition OS and have a lot of nice modern features. Nokia also seems to finally deliver phones where Bluetooth works well. The user interface is ok, even nice, Nokia has always been better on that then Ericsson.
From what I could find on the web the Nokia 6131 should be able to work with Mac OS X and it does. Here how I made it work.
